No one is making you out to be the bad guy, Derek. We're trying to get our point across, and snapping at you is often the only way. Your stubborn about your ideas, and you often won't give them up even if your proven wrong. Like Gina mentioned, if she has dementia, then instead of beating the tar out of her to get her to stop doing things when you KNOW that she'll forget(unless you don't know what dementia is), we should be working to make sure that she doesn't have a reason to jump on the counters. Like, i don't know, rinsing off the egg pan when your done using it, for example.

You know. That sounded ridiculously spiteful, Derek. I recall you being 34 as opposed to 12. In the meantime, if you know that she's senile, then what's the point of punishing her if she's just going to forget it two minutes. You totally just made your self a hypocrite, congratulations.

And again, if you're tired of playing tug-o-war with her, *cover up the dishes* There are plenty of different lids we have in the kitchen that Millie can't budge, and there are plenty of ways that you can prevent her from eating up shit. Spend more time thinking things through and maybe you wouldn't have this problem in the first place.

Just to set your story straight, we don't beat her! We do chase her and scare her. We do usually get a good smack in when we can catch her by surprise. But most of the time we just scare her. We don't hunt her. And trust me I take no enjoyment in having to chase her off the counters or play tug-of-war with her over what might just be your dinner. Two things to point out. 1) she knows she's not supposed to be doing what she's doing, a cat does not have the ability to be reasoned with, they need to be taught, unfortunately it sounds harsher than it really is. and 2) its not healthy for a cat to eat the processed food we humans eat, nor is it healthy for the cat to be on the counters or in the cupboard where we keep and prepare that food. Now that said, I think you need to take a good look at just who is the ones leaving the stuff on the counters and tables or does not wash off those counters and tables. It has nothing to do with whats in her water bowl or what may be on the counters. She has been getting into the cabinets. The other day she ate half a loaf of bread that she got out off the second shelf of the top cabinet. Why do you think we put a lock on it. More than once we've had to change our meal plans because she has taken the meat. Last night she had to be chased off to save the still hot pies. Now to address the sick part of your rant, I'm not a vet so I don't know. But I do know that no one here has the money to pay for a vet to look at her. And as your mother has said more than once, if she wasn't so old she would try harder to figure out a way. But she is that old and not to little bit of senile, blind, and hard of hearing to boot. So trust me, your blowing this way out of proportion. Spend some more time out side your room and you might know more about whats going on.
